Types Of Visas In USA
H1b Visa: H1b visa is a non-immigrant work visa given by the USA. It is a temporary visa that requires employer sponsorship. Applicants must hold a higher degree such as a Bachelor's or Master's degree. There is no age limit, allowing even 65-year-olds to apply. Individuals from any nation can apply for this visa. The H4 visa is a dependent visa of the H1b, allowing family members of H1b visa holders to apply. Both OPT and H4 visa holders can apply for the H1b visa. The validity of the H1b visa is 3 years, extendable for an additional 3 years, with the possibility to apply for US citizenship or a green card. H4 visa holders are not permitted to work in the USA unless they apply for the H1b visa.
F1 Visa: The F1 visa is a non-immigrant student visa intended for foreign students pursuing degrees in the USA. The F2 visa is a dependent visa of the F1, which does not permit employment. F1 visa holders can pursue full-time or part-time degree programs and have the option to engage in optional practical training (OPT) or curricular practical training (CPT) while studying.
B1 Visa: The B1 visa is a non-immigrant business visa for individuals or consultants visiting the USA temporarily for business purposes, with a visa duration of 90 days. B1 visa holders attend conferences or meetings related to their business within this period. Dependents are not allowed on the B1 visa due to its 90-day validity period.
B2 Visa: The B2 visa is a visitor visa for individuals living in the USA who wish to bring their parents or relatives to visit them. It is a non-immigrant visa for temporary visits.
L1 Visa: The L1 visa is a non-immigrant temporary work visa for individuals seeking employment in the USA. The L2 visa is the dependent visa of the L1, allowing family members to accompany the L1 visa holder, though they are not permitted to work.
Green Card: The Green Card is an immigrant visa granted to individuals who have been permanent residents in the USA for a minimum of 5 years. It enables holders to work and reside permanently in the USA.
US Citizenship: US Citizenship is an immigrant visa issued to individuals who have been in the USA for 18 years or more, granting them full rights, including the right to vote.

Thank you for this opportunity to learn. Although my wife and I are in the USA on a B2 Visa, which is valid for 10 years (2011 to 2021), I had been informing everyone here that we were on a tourist visa. The correct name for it is a visitor's visa, as I learned from this email.
My second lesson is to dispel my misconception about people asking seemingly silly questions. It was my misunderstanding. What may appear as a silly question to someone knowledgeable may hold significance for a layperson. Therefore, I will not be annoyed by what I perceive as simple questions and will instead appreciate them. For example, questions like "Do you need a visa to go to Heaven or Hell, or to the Moon and Mars?" I extend my gratitude to CiteHR for providing such valuable assistance.
