Hello, I have done my Bachelor of Commerce at Chennai, India. I have joined a BPO as TSR by 2011 July, as I have completed 4 years with the company I would request your suggestions in changing over to a different organization Over the years I have been into many different projects and also have dialed outbound calls. My companies current agents count is 40 and I feel like moving to a bigger organization. By 2014 I was offered a dedicated campaign and appointed as Project manager for the quality control division I manage 21 agents under me for a year now from 06-05-2015.
My reasons for looking on to change are 1. Salary, 2. A number of employees, 3. Exposure 4. Testing my level. Please offer your suggestions on the same, I am confused and worried about leaving my organization which I have been with many years, and also feel being paid low could not satisfy my basic needs.

Dear Rakesh,

You have completed four years. Therefore, it is recommend to wait for few more months, complete five years of continuous service and become eligible for the gratuity. Nevertheless, if you get a job with very high remuneration then you may forego the gratuity and grab the offer.

To get a fresh offer, what you need to make is to make a career plan. You may make a career plan on the following counts:

a) Your age, qualification etc

b) Very unique competencies that you have built in the last four years

c) Secondary competencies that you have built in the last four years

d) Your likes and dislikes

e) Family responsibilities, whether relocation is possible, whether any close relatives requires your personal attention

f) What avenues are available for you to utilise your unique competencies

g) What avenues are available for your to utilise your secondary competencies

h) Is it possible to make foray into new industry altogether? If yes, what avenues are available?

Once you write down the replies to these questions, you may need to find out what qualification you need to add. Existing qualification could be inadequate for higher level position. Above all, if you wish to remain in BPO industry then you need think of staying relevant after 35+ years of age also. My general knowledge about BPO industry says that it thrives on youngsters and after 35+ employees are not necessarily retained. The uniqueness of their job makes them unsuitable to work in any other industry. After doing sedentary job for years, they are unable to take field assignments. The worst case scenario is not just halting but derailment of the career express of few individuals.

Hi Rakesh, as suggested by Mr. Dinesh, wait for another one year, but before that kindly recheck with whether gratuity is there or not. With Regards, M.V.Kumar, Dy. Manager-HR.
