Dear All,
In my previous company, my Boss was very nice. I used to ask him his feedback for me and since we were very close and open with each other, I never shy/hesitate to ask or to say anything (be it right or wrong). He always told me about my negative and positve points. This process was being done on the telephone since I was in Delhi and he was in Mumbai.
1 month back, I have joined another company as a HR and Admin Executive. I am on my probation period of 6 months. This is a Corporate firm. We are very few employees as of now. I feel that my seniors are not happy with me or my work. I am not sure for that. However, I am doing my best. I am putting my 100% efforts in doing anything they asks for. But sometimes, when I feel that they are not happy with me and they can ask me to leave the company; I become depressed or upset. and due to my depression, I am not able to concentrate on my work. I usually do mistakes due to my depression. I don't want to get terminated for these reasons. I tried to forget these things but whenever my seniors comes to me, their expressions are like ___________. I usually sits free at my office since I don't have any work to do. Whenever, I suggest anything to them, they either do not repl or do not get agreed. I don't know how to get it solved. I don't have that much job responsibilty as well. Usually, what happens is, whenver I suggest anything to my seniors, they usually deny to get agreed. I don't have much authorities to take any step without the permission of my seniors (even for the small things like purchasing a board marker). But sometimes, I feel that this is might be because I am not that much experienced or educated.I am an undergraduate and working as HR from last 3 years. I had full liberty in my previous company to work, to take decisions, to do anything (ofcourse with the approval of my Boss). But in this company, I don't have any liberty to take any step.
I am very scared as to what would be the result. Should I ask them for my feedback? If yes then what should I ask? Should I go ahead with the situation as it is? I don't want to loose this job.
Please help seniors. What should I do under these circumstances.

Hi
Don't worry about the Feedback from the current employer, do your work at the most. May I suggest some tips and tricks for your being impressed by your seniors.
1. Make a point to write the quote for the day in board every day, so that atleast one will read and get most benefitted out of it.
2. Make your office environment Eco Friendly, by planting some trees.
3. Organize an event for making your office Eco Friendly by asking any one of your collegues to plant a tree/saplings on monthly basis, by recognizing their work.
4. Prepare some human resource activity training materials and circulate it or you can handle any of the HR training programs.
Hope this will cetraintly improve your work culture in such an environment.
All best your new venture!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Shweta
I understand your feelings
Among the list of Seniors you have in the company, there might be one or two who are atleast considerate and listen to your at times.
Try opening up a communication channel with them. Go to them and ask for permission whether they can spare time for you. I am sure that on one day or other they would give some time
Start a humble communication, telling them that you are not much experienced as them and when can they spare time with you. If they do not come to you, please go to them. One day you would be successful. Ask them for the education that they can pass to you in current role
Job Roles / Authorities / People's mindset change from organization to organization. Do not focus on the word "Authorities" and concentrate on the word "Initiatives". Tell that you have some plans and ask for their feedback
Remember, things would not change in a day. Be perseverant and try focusing on things starting from small things and you would succeed

Hey Kumar,
Thanks a ton for your suggestion. I will follow the same thing. U know what happens is, I usually do all my work with my 100% efforts but sometimes when I feel that my seniors are not happy then I generally get afraid for my job. I am doing my best. But the moment I see their (my seniors) bad facial expressions, I feel very bad and I feel that I am of no use in this company and after seeing their faces, I usually do the mistakes or get confused for my work given by them. I feel that I dont have any importance in my company. I am the only HR person in my Company. We have two offices - one in Delhi and second in Mumbai. I am working in Delhi as HR and Admin Executive. I don't have freedom to take any steps. For all the initiatives, queries or anything, I have to wait for my seniors, who are very busy in their own office work. I have to follow up with them for the minimum of 25 times. I have to remind them about my pending work. I was very happy with my previous job. I wish I could join that company again but its not possible and its not ethical.

Hi Shweta,
It is always difficult to adjust in a new environment in the initial period. Every organisation has diffirent ways of approaching the people, situation. So you need to adjust to the new environment. Do not compare your old organisation with new, there would be some + / - in both.
Also since you are new in this organisation , you need to earn the confidence of your seniors by doing your work properly and efficiently. So concentrate on work rather than thinking about anything else. Once you earn the respect and confidence of your seniors , then you can put your suggestion or ideas, and surely they will get accepted.
So my suggestion would be try and adjust in new system, than comparing old with new and expecting same behaviour from the new seniors. You need to give atleast 3 to 6 months time to yourself and to your seniors also to see any change takes place.

Hi Shwetha,
I appreciate your trust on our advises. Well to start with every person requires sometime to get adjusted in a new enviornment/organization and viceversa. This period is typically 6 months. Its like getting married and the new family giving acceptance to the bride.
As you said, your seniors are pretty busy...6 months from now you will be equally busy and when you see someone new who has joined and doesnot have much work than you may (which i think you should'nt) behave like them....So the mantra is hold on ..do give your best which you said you do...and i am sure things will change...In case you need my help you are welcome to contact me..

I think there is nothing to get panic. Whenever you move from one company to another, you might face some issues related to adjustment and acceptance. You can address these issues only by your performance and dedication. Many people make blunders in such situation as they devote more time to get friendly with other team members and people in the office rather than concentrating on work and performance. You yourself has told that you are not even a graduate, hence you have more to prove. Just concentrate on your work. I think other things will fall in place but if you miss this then you yourself needs to be blamed for your fate.
Your job is not to keep everyone happy but to work to the best of your abilities and perform.
All the best. Thanks and Regards

Dear Swetha,
I perfectly understand what your going through, cos i was in a similar situation a month before. I was working for a medium sized IT company as a HR Recruiter and recently joined a corporate on contract, and trust me, things started happening similar to what happened in your case.

This is what i did...
- Stopped worrying about what my seniors "THINK" of me or my performance. Rather started working efficiently, that in due time people slowly started noticing my performance and changed their attitude towards me. Remember "seeing is believing", let your seniors see n believe!
- Face it ,Chuck off those quit-the-job "Thoughts" which might tempt you to apply for another job, What if you end up with a worser monster:twisted:?????Beware!! Stay n face it boldly!
- Jus Chill - Swetha for heaven's sake Dont take life too serious! These so called seniors of yours will not even be in your memory in another few years down the lane.
- Enjoy - Enjoy every bit of your work, jus be urself to people nomatter how they treat you and stay happy. Remember..
"Working" :(is for people who don't know how to "PARTY":-D!!!
Wish you all the very best for a Happy- HR career!:-P
