Hi Arnab,
It is really very difficult to find out the Fake CV from just having a look at the CV. The only way to determine is to call the candidate for interview and ask him the relevant questions. If he has bragged in the CV, he will most certainly be caught in the answers he gives. Trust me, I myself have caught a handful of such candidates.
Hope this works for you.

Fake resumes can be found through following screening...
> multiple repeated sentences for most of the projects
> some can copy the same projects two times with different company name and duration
> check the company websites or get the references
> when you ask for references, ask for company number and work email id. sometimes personal details are fake.
> after your basic screening and interviewing the candidate, then go through the agency for the background check if any.
> networking site like linkedin, xing, spoke and others might be useful when you check via references

Hi Arnab,
It is indeed very difficult task to identify the fake CV's. Many peoples use to send Fake CV's because resumes are one of the important criteria to get a job. Some people have inborn talent to make bluffing.
My Suggestions to identify fake CV's are:
1. Ask the candidates to attach along with the CVs the scanned copies of attested certificates with respect to Qualifications and experiences they have mentioned. it will same time and efforts of recruiters
2. Make a telephonic or Personal interview to test the knowledge and authenticity of information provided in the CV's.
3. Set a particular format for CV (unique for a Company/Firm).
Best of Luck. :)

Ensuring that candidate commitment (verbal / Written) are taken seriously and conunter checked both by competency based interviews & discreet check on his credintials in / out of organization.
Do not bang your head for any person below 3 yrs of exp. as they are 90% in execution job therefore attitude based detailed interview is sufficiant; that will give you understanding & bend of mind about the individual.
Keep it simple & practical also as an HR every candidate is a suspect - do your job thoroughly...after all he is going to share work space with you & your employees.

Hi friends,
For finding the fake resume we have to think differently. In the resume itself they will be mentioning the company details.we have to take the details and search in the google or other search engine.
In that we can contact the HR and ask abt the details.otherwise we can ask the candidate to write the resume in the empty paper and cross check with that resume.
HR can definitely find the fake resume and orginal resume.

Hi,
The most effective solution must follow the following steps:
a. Get in contact with candidate on the given personal details. Get an idea of his credentials during the tele chat and know if he is genuine.
b. Get a reference check done from the references provided by candidate.
c. In case of Higher and Top Management Candidates, the background check agencies can be engaged.
d. If shortlisted for interview, a detailed Interview can resolve quite a few nagging apprehensions.
e. Get info from the Industry / Sector sources about his present company and then contact the company without letting them know the purpose of your call.

Only background checking from HR Deptt of the previous co & cross questioning of the facts provided by the candidate can work. It is simple, is not it?
I have been using this method for the last about 16 years and I have never been failed in my assessment.

let’s see some of the possible scenarios where people like to fake them on CV

Arrears in College degree and pro-longed duration to complete them.

This can identified by the pass out year in the school, under graduation and post graduation. Each degree has certain specified time period to complete and if you find something different, probably you need to check with them.

Irrelevant work experience which is being combined as relevant

For example Overall 6 years of experience out of which 2 years as a lab assistant and 2 years as a faculty in some training institute and 2 years of programmer experience. Now the lab assistant and faculty experience is also faked as programming experience so that they try to apply for a Lead level programmer when they actually have level 2 programmers.

Distance education degrees but projected as regular ones.

This happens most of the time in the post graduation; you will see an overlapping work experience with the academia experience.

any other views are welcome
