Hi HR seniors
My boss approached me regarding one head of the company that we subcontracted to do some job for us. He was complaining that he [head subcontractor] has unbearable ordor so much that they cant seat in meetings. He is asking for advise on how to diplomatically tell the head of subcontracting company about his unbearable ordor so that he can do something about it.
These are some of the personal matters that must be handled with caution so i need your advise.
Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi Meenu,

Thanks for the compliment.i would like to bring to your notice that even am a fresher in HR career, my idea of sharing my thoughts here is to improve my skills and this way it will help the communication level. To answer your question, firstly let me know are you a fresher in the career.?if yes then it should not be a problem for anyone at the nascent stage of the career to have tension or zero confidence level.but incase you are experienced then it really needs to be given a thought.

As far as my approach is concerned, speaking in lay man terms , self introspect on why are you afraid/tensed seeing the Senior. Is his eyes so terrific ? or his face so scary? If his face is the concern then stare at his eyes and answer him( you may be right or wrong). intially you will need lot of effort to do that.Face it.Afterall he is a Senior person and has reached that place only after he has crossed a junior position like ours.Said and done , its always easy to give away advises.

Hope this Helps.

Sravani.

Dear Meenu

As a matter of fact, that the condition of majority of us. We are very good in advising to others and we can take good classes for others. But when the same is for us then we are getting panic and nervous and unable to tackle even some simple issues. To come out such situations you must start developing self confidence. Daily morning you must tell to your mind with little louder voice. "Meenu you are great, Meenu you are born to achieve, Meenu you are so beautiful, Meenu you can do any work which have been dropped by others and the difficult tasks very easily, Meenu Today you have to do these all are the work. (i)................. (ii)............ (iii)................

First and foremost : Note down all the work whatever is pending.

Strike those completed task immediately on completion of task

Add the new tasks as and when you receive

Complete the simple work then and there immediately

for medium level and difficult work please seek help from your seniors, and if you are not getting help from them, you can post a querry in this forum, by which you can get guidance from our learned members.

Next day morning please make a new list with yesterday's left out and today's task. Give priority to the yesterday's task.

Never keep any work long pending. Make your schedule for the week, month and year and move as per the schedule.

If you deviate from your schedule, sit in late hours (if possible) or come on one Sunday/Holiday and complete the task peacefully.

Please go through your office HR Policy and other relevant policies thoroughly and stand on it.

If someone asking out of the way, you can tell that your company policy is not allowing to do such and if required instruct him to get special permission to get the work done.

If you aware of your office policy, you can speak confidently. You must be polite with confident reply.

First learn how to tell NO. If you learn how to tell and when to tell the word NO then you are the boss in your company.

Wish you all the success dear.

Hi Meenu
The fear of speaking up in a face to face communication is-
1.Lack of knowledge
2.More bothered about what people think of you( lack of self esteem or confidence)
3.Lack of planing preparation and practice in case of presentations
4. Fear of failure( related to point 2)
You to work on your fears(only you can ) and upgrade your knowledge and also practice and speak up on every given opportunity.
There are no failures in life-- only learning experiences.
All the best! :)

Hi Suhas ,
You said you have been working as project coordinator. There is a narrow scope in the field which you are working. You should either continue in the same field with less opportunities or enter in the ocean of General HR where there are lot many opportunities at the same time many aspirants to compete with you. Also you didnot specify how many yrs of experience you have.
You will have to start your career as the 'Recruiter' (screening, shortlisting, portals etc). the core HR jobs are tough to find in the current market.
Any Questions please feel free to ask.
Hope this helps!
