Hi, I wanted some opinions on how to manage the attendance in my organization. We are a team of 55 without a biometric system. We have no plans in the near future of having one ( so that is not an option for suggestion). Currently, we have a leave card system wherein I as the HR write down all the leaves taken for the current month along with final leave balance and distribute it to the employees on floor, they then sign the card and submit it back to me.
To cut down on the usage of paper and use time efficiently, I plan to have an excel sheet/some alternative which can be shared with everyone on the floor. However, this has not been approved of as we want only the individual employee's record to be seen by the employee. Can the excel sheet do some magic?

Hi,
Maintaining the attendance and leave record of employees is very important for a company during processing the salary on monthly basis. Most of the office will maintain a manual record but may not be able to generate exact output of the timing.
By using different types of attendance management system likes Biometric systems, time clock, mobile or other software apps, automated attendance system, swiping system will find easy to access and track down the information.

I do not think you can do away with the manual attendance. It's required as per law.
Since you are not allowed to get a biometric system, you can move to a HRM software to tackle attendance (but that needs to be out manually in the HRM) and leave system. Leave management will be on a portal which makes life simpler and avoids paper work.
Since the management is not giving you approval to spent 10-15,000 on a biometric attendance device, I don't think you will get approval to pay for a software. Check out OrangeHRM which is open sourced and therefore free. But again, it does not have payroll.
I think for the time being you will be stuck with manual system.
