Hi,
As far as I understand, the purpose of verification is to ensure that the potential employee is clean. In other words, no criminal cases are pending against him, and he really possesses the stated qualifications and experience, etc. Is it not? This is based on the logic that past performance is an indicator for the future. However, in most cases, it has been observed that an employee who gets involved in a scam has a clean record in the past. So, my question is, what can your organizations (or other agencies involved in background checks) do regarding this? Predicting the future behavior of a potential employee is impossible. Simply checking his past and branding him as a saint or sinner does not serve any purpose. If that were the case, we would have been deprived of the "Ramayana" because the great sage Valmiki was a bandit.
I hope one day I get an answer to my question, and I also hope that something better than a background check emerges.
