Dear Sir,

I have been relieved from my roles at a leading insurance company in Kerala with effect from 27/04/13. I would like to know more about the process steps to follow for online PF submission. Details such as Employee number and Employee PF number are available with me.

Dear Arun Kumar,

What do you mean by online PF submission? Do you mean withdrawal or transfer? If it is a transfer, please verify with EPFO whether their system is ready as the same has just been initiated. Otherwise, submit Form 13 for the purpose.

Regards.

Dear Premkumar Nair Sir,

I mean of withdrawal only... thanks for information. Where do I need to submit form 13, sir? Actually, it's the first time dealing with all these, so I have a lot of doubts. Another doubt is regarding form 16 (signed) which I received from the company through emails. What is its exact use? Is it necessary to submit it somewhere?

(d) Date of payment into the Government treasury: Various dates as mentioned on Page 2 of the Form 16

Approach your HR for submitting Form 13, or you can directly send it to the PF Office where your Establishment is registered.

For Form 16, it is your Tax Certificate that needs to be submitted for filing your Income Tax Return. Please consult a Tax Consultant to file the IT Return; they will charge a nominal amount.

Dear Arun,

If you want to withdraw PF amount, you have to submit Form 19 & 10C to your employer for onward submission to the PF authorities. Form 13 is only for the transfer of PF, which may be submitted to your present employer if you join a new company. Transfer is advised since you will have enough funds when you get old and retire. You will be given a pension based on your service.

Form 16 is proof of Income Tax paid on your behalf, and you can consult an auditor if you want to get a refund.

I hope you are clear now.

Dear Arun,

Form 16 is provided by the employer as proof of salary and income tax deducted at source as per the Income Tax Act, 1961. From your Form 16, it is seen that the employer has deducted Rs. 10,218 and remitted it to the Income Tax Department. Presently, along with Form 16, the employer is supposed to provide you with a statement downloaded from the TRACES of the Income Tax Department. Insist on obtaining it. In any case, keep both the Form 16 and TRACES statement safely for future reference.

Secondly, a person whose income is less than Rs. 5 lakh does not have to file an Income Tax Return unless entitled to any refund from the tax deducted, subject to certain conditions.

As suggested by the RBI circular, please get the proceeds of EPF transferred to the EPF membership number of the new employer by submitting Form 13 with details of the previous employer so that you would be entitled to a higher rate of pension. With the latest introduction of the online transfer procedure by EPFO, the transfer process has become faster and more transparent.

You can always raise your doubts and queries in CITEHR, and we, the members, are pleased to share our knowledge by answering such questions. Take advantage of it.

Regards and best wishes

Dear Arun ji,

You have mentioned that you are relieved from one company but did not mention what you are doing after being relieved. If you have joined another organization within 2 months where there is a PF, you are not entitled to withdraw your PF accumulation but to transfer it to the new organization. For this purpose, you need to submit Form 13 to RPFC through your present organization.

Dear Sir,

Thank you for the valuable information. I have recently started my own business and would like to withdraw the available PF amount. Approximately, how many months does it take after the withdrawal submission? Also, could you please provide an estimate of the refund amount applicable for Rs. 10,218, so that I can assess the need to consult an auditor?

Thank you,
Arun
