Dear Seniors,
I am a Training Manager at an International hotel which is newly opened. I have taken over the task which was haphazardly done by the previous employee. I am at ground zero with several departments (loss of docs) and a large number of employees rely on me for an effective training department. The issue I'm facing is that we have to beg for participants to ensure a class is run. (Two of us only in the dept; Training Manager & Training Coordinator)
My dilemma:
How do I create the interest for learning where they'd nominate themselves for the classes?
How do I calculate training hours for each department? (Month To Date/Year To Date) e.g of one Department: 7 different training programs, 106 staff and some trainings are 1 day/2days/ 3 days.
How do I create Training Policy and procedure?
Appreciate your kind help.
Regards,

Dear Riya,
Most of the training professionals face the same problem what you are facing. This is not restricted to just hospitality industry or your hotel.
First identify various KRAs for every department. Training is required to enhance effectiveness of the staffs so that they can meet those KRAs. You will get support from HODs if you adopt this route.
Ok...
