Hi, guys. I work for an NGO as a Training and Career Coach. In the NGO, we have many different programs with various training courses and exams. All the training is conducted externally, and none of them are for in-house training.
My question is: are there any standards that we can use to keep the material maintained and controlled? Such as ISO or STO?

Dear Hellkid,
If you are a Training and Career Coach, then your major concern should be the measurement of ROI on training. While writing this, I would not like to underestimate the importance of training records; nevertheless, what is the essence of the records? The essence of employee training lies in measuring the value derived from the training.
Secondly, whether an in-house trainer or an external trainer conducts the training does not matter. The formula for ROI on training is the same for all. Therefore, my humble request is to measure the effectiveness of the training. That is your number one standard. Everything else is secondary.
In this connection, you may refer to my following replies:

As far as records are concerned, you may maintain the following records:
a) Number of training hours per employee - budgeted vs. actual
b) Breakup of training budget on various training verticals like soft skills, functional, technical, IT, etc.
c) Breakdown of hours of training on various training verticals like soft skills, functional, technical, IT, etc.
d) Breakdown of training days - external trainers vs. in-house trainers
e) Breakdown of training budget - external trainers vs. in-house trainers
f) ROI per training program - projected vs. actual
g) Percentage of training spend per employee vs. percentage of revenue generated per employee (may not be applicable to you)
h) Knowledge assets generated per program (i.e., have the trained employees created any videos or presentations on how they implemented the learning and saved the consumption of various resources)
Hope the above records are more than sufficient for you.
My Constructive Feedback: This is a professional forum, and your query also relates to your profession. Therefore, you could have been a little more professional. There are a few spelling and grammatical errors. Hardly, this is expected from a "Training and Career Coach." Worst still, your login ID is "hellkid." This kind of login ID goes well with the humor section and not for a professional query. Your concern is for maintaining standards for the training department. Please show a similar concern in raising your personal standards as well. Do not allow informality to dwarf your standards, lest this very informality may dwarf your career as well!
All the best!
