Dear Seniors
I am new to this forum seeking your advice urgently on the following issue…plzzzzzzz help:
I have done PGDM in Industrial Relations & Personnel Management (1 year regular course) and graduated with English. For last 1 year, have been working as a HR Executive in a small IT company as single point of contact between all depts.
But, the salary I am getting is not very good. My reporting head (the CEO) says, this is due to my not having a MBA – HR degree. He also said that, a 1 year PGDM course does not adds too much value to a long term hr career.
Due to this, (to excel in my career in HR field) I want to do full time course. Now I need your advice on the following areas:
Should I consider a fulltime Masters in Personnel Management & Labor Law? Or should I opt for a MBA – HR degree? In terms of value addition to my present career, which course will be more beneficial?
Kindly advice.

Dear Tina,
I consider that the major Industrial Relations & Personnel Management you studied is similar to the HR specialized field. Add to your exp in the company, I think practise is vital in HR work after all.
My suggestion is: Would you acquire a course that can ensure your workingtime as well as the diploma you want.
Best Regard.

Dear Kevin
Thanks for your response. I know gradually experience will add value to my profile. But Many people in this field says that, unless you r having a full time degree, you can't make urself part of big brand names. Also u can never negotiate on your salary to the expected level. This dissapoints me. So If I enrol to any course now or in future, I will leave my job and complete my study. The confusion is.. whether getting a Masters in similar filed of study will be better than a MBA in HR ...or should i consider doing a MBA only.. Pls advice.

Dear Tina,
It's seems that you have already make decision on your study, the only problem is the major. From my prospective, it's depend on your future plan. If you want continue to take position in HR, I think it's more appropriate to choose MBA in HR.
Anyway I would support your choice and please believe yourself.
Goodluck!
