Hi All, I am looking at moving to HR - Generalist role and I do not have any experience in this field. I have close to 5 years of work exp ... 3.5 years as SAP user support Consultant (Pharma Company) and 1.3 years in HR Comp and Ben Consulting and analytics. I am MBA in HR and Marketing.
The toughest question i face at the interviews is "Why HR" and "Why HR General". No matter how much i think.. i do not have a convincing answer to this question. Can anyone please help me with.
Also, Please advise if this is the right career move.

Dear Member
The question is Why HR to HR Generalist
As per Your profile experiences in consultant firms are specific
in nature and your role is confined to certain area
where as HR Generalist role allows us to learn many

Recruitment
personal
payroll admin
statutory knowledge
Arbitrtion
handlng greviences
Men Management
organising
Appraisals and Admin many to add
we can say a generalist role and operational area is wide and we can
become all rounder
In my opinion Generalist is full pledged job
think and discuss with our HR group

Thank you Ramesh for your response.
I do know the various fields in HR. I want to understand what are the interviewers looking for when they ask this question.
What are the skill sets that one requires to become a good HR Exec who is able to handle entire gamut of HR activities in an organization.
Also, which is the most interesting area in the field of HR and why?
Awaiting responses.
