Its been three months I am trying to find a job in HR. It has become from bad to worst. When I left my last job on 30th aug 2008. There was no sign of recession. But now its been really bad since past 3 months... I am very depressed, upset.. Its not that I do not have good experience, but the salary is a major issue. My salary was high 30,000 a month for a 1.9 years of work experience in recruitments and business development with a consutancy in mumbai. now I have moved to my home town in Pune. But unable to find a good job. Corporate Hr, no ones willing to take on board even if it is recruitments and other consultancies are paying way to low. The only answer for not offering is they can get the same talent for less money, so why should we take ya.. is it my mistake that I was earning that much. I am willing to comprmise but not at least come down to peanuts.. I dont know where am I going wrong. Have tried home based freelance work as well but not helping, have had bad experience there too.
Please advice. !

hi divya,
i do hav the same problem with my friends...dont be in a hurry to settle foe peanuts, just try applying in all the consultancies and wait for ur day 2 cum. dnt expect the same 30k in this period, i heard the recession problems wud cum down in an years time. this is th time were u can demand for a position based on ur salary & experience.
so once if u hold a gud position then jumping to other company may suit ur needs....

hi thanks for your inputs, i have been learning about other aspects of HR and have tried inplementing it as well. Also when I tell the recruiting HR that I have good knowlwdge about the general Hr aspects and u can have a test, they say its of no use as u do not have any experience. But unless n until I get an opportuity how will I get experience.Sometimes, the even the stage does not arrive where I can tell them.???

Divya,
If you are not affected financially, I sugget you to try in a bigger organization for recruiter assignment. Pl. remember that, we don't have much options in the market, so keep a goal of getting recruiter role in a bigger organization (it can be a vendor/consultant role) and as you have mentioned you are very much interested in generalist function, you should prove yourself I'm confident if you have right attitude and have passion towards HR, I'm sure you'll get it.
Remember, "To get something u got to lose something".. Bazigar dialogue... ;)...
Good Luck!

your salary is too high, atleast for a starter who has just mere exp of 1.9 yrs.
there are very well settled organisations, giving this much of mone for the employees, having almost 10 years of exp also. so, if you want to have a fruitful career in hr, having the thrust of gaining knowledge at precious moments of your life, rather focusing money matter. Money does matter, but it will surely follow you at the right time automatically, when you will deserve as per your experienced gained knowledge.
