The ISO 9000 family of standards relates to ISO quality management system for ISO 9001 certification and is designed to help organizations ensure they meet the needs of customers and other stakeholders. The ISO 9001 standards establish confidence in each department of organization in issue of quality system and hence wins customers satisfaction which is the goal of in any business. The standards are published by ISO - International Organization for Standardization for ensuring they are used effectively. During certification audit the certifying agency verifies ISO Quality System to ensure that the quality management system is implemented well for meeting all iso 9001 standard requirements for ISO 9001 Certification.

ISO 9001 requires that internal auditors be competent, but it does not specify how that competence is determined. Auditor certification or internal approval are both acceptable approaches. A third party auditor is required to determine the effectiveness of the internal audit system at each visit, and this will reflect internal auditor competence to some extent. Are audits process based? Do the audits find value-added feedback for management? If not, auditor competence will be in question.
