Can an employee take back his resignation from the company? If yes, then is there any duration limit to take resignation back during notice period?

It depends case to case. It is obviously to note that many organisations do not relieve talended employees and many times at any cost they want to retain them. Once, resignation acceptence letter given by the Managemet, the employee is bound to leave the organisation, but subject to the discretion of Management
I do agree with the view that it is up to the management to allow for withdrawl of resignation. However, the very fact of submiting the resignation shows the employee has considered all the options before submitting the resignation. Then why he should be keen to withdraw resignation. Is he trying to bargain with the company? As a HR Manager, I advised my management to accept the resignation once it comes in writing whoever they are. No discussions with the employee. Any professional employee will discuss difficulties with his superior/s and try to find out the soulution rather than submitting the resignation.

Hi!
As a company i would like to know why the employee wants to withdraw his resignation???? Are there clear defined reasons.... Know a case where the co took back a resignation and the person joined back within the notice period to find later that he resigned after a month and took a better offer.... Nowadays the co should be more careful... consider him only if he is a top performer and his skills are something special... else forgo him... every candidate should resign only after proper thinking,

Hey Pradyna,
Good Question.
As answered by few experts its:
1. Within Notice period
2. And also as per the discretion of the Management.
What I wanted to add was, usually after the resignation letter is received and managemts accept the same, they will look for a replacement and spend time and efforts. So provide you had good repo, ideally management should accept your withdrawl of resignation.
You know the saying, its take double the money and effort to train a new staff then retain good one.
So, All the best.

Every Resignation need to be accepted by the competent authority. Once resignation been accepted, Notice period starts, the process of replacement and subsequently handing over process. It is suggested to review whether to accept or not. If accepted, it is always advised not to reverse the same. Exceptions always be there to consider in the hands of Management.

Hi Prandntal.
Withdrawing a Resignation depends of three important factors.
a) Standing Orders Of The Companny ( HR Policy)
b) Discretion of the management.
c) The performance deficiency the company would face in absence of the resignee.
A resignation is given to the company for better prospects. 95% of the times it is for increments. And equal percentile of time resignation letters approach the H.R desk without any intimation. Most companies try to negotiate a price after a resignation is handed. If the settlement is agreed upon by the company then the resignation can be withdrawn. It is well said that " It is better to have a known devil and to have a unknown saint."

Employee has right to take change his minduntill the company accepts the resignation. Thereafter only the employer has right to decide further course of action whether to cancel or proceed forward with acceptance.
