Hi, I'm shravan and I've completed MBA (HR) in the year 2009. As 2009 was badly hit by recission I could not get placed in HR field so i've joined one MNC as a customer care execuitive. now that there is no recession I want to go for HR field. Please assist how can I gain experience and get HR job.

Hi Shravan,
Try to get in touch with the HR head of the company or a Senior HR person and introduce yourself to them. You may get a chance in the same company in recruitment section.. May be in future,....... but that surely will help you start your carrier in HR..

Hi to all over there,
I am mushtaq mine is the same problem I have completed my MBA in 2006-2008 and the time i thought of getting into HR stream it was struck by recession, previously i had nearly 7 yrs of industrial production experience as i want to switch to HR fully as previous we use to do manpower planning , man management , event organizing, going for campus interviews etc.
Can any experts over there give me a suggession as i have been in different production sectors like power plant, pharma , paint @ infrastructures.. as from many time i was planning to switch to HR , how should i start doing.

First of all to find an opportunity in HR field itself is a difficult task and then to get the job is another episode.
I recommend you to contact some consultancy in local and share your interest about the job and let them know what kind of profile you are looking at. Consultancy is the best source to get your interviews aligned. Apart from consultancy you can search current openings in the company sites. Before searching, decide in which industry you would fit in or rather like to be in, and then make your search accordingly. For example if you want to get into retail industry then start searching and visit the official website of companies like Wal-Mart, Shopper's Stop, Big Bazaar etc., You may find an HR opening in Career field if there is any.
Next step to gain Experience:
I would suggest you to get registered with HR communities, HR Newsletter and visit HR websites frequently to understand HR practices in the current trend. Read HR magazines like Human Capital, Human Factor etc.
As you said that it’s been a year since you completed your MBA-HR, it is not unfair for anyone to forget the HR concepts. If you are strong in your concepts then you can crack the interview easily. In case you need to brush up the concepts then keep reading your subject books which you had done in your MBA.
Note: The Interviewer will check your interest and involvement in HR field since you had a break. So he might ask you how do you keep yourself updated in terms of HR concepts. To give a convincing answer and prove your interest, you must discuss with him about your initiative in learning the HR concepts and practices from various source of information like Web and Magazines.
