Dear Seniors,
I am working with a chemical industry in Bangalore and usually every year we declare 1st May as holiday at our all units. But now a question is raised whether the same is necessary for corporate office also?
Can anybody please guide me whether the holiday of Mayday i.e. 1st May is applicable to corporate office as well or only for the factories/sites/plants.
Regards,
Naina

Hello Naina,
Please see notification of Shop and establishment Gujarat.
If your Corporate office covered under shop and establishment act than follow state holiday list;which is already declared.
Thanking you,

You need not to decelare the list of holidays whatever the state Govt decelared for their offices. You will have to decelare as per the coverage of your Organisation.
See whether your corporate office is covered under Shop Act or Factory Act.
There are some necessary holiday & Festivals under the Act respectively, these holiday you have to decelare as holiday additionally to the regional festivals.

Hi
Its appilcable to corporate also. One way or the other, the corporate is also having workforce. So need not to classify workmen and mangerial cadre here. For example all holidays are common for everyone, then why to think of a day which is classified as national holiday. You can always give off on May 1 as everyone is working for the betterment of a company.

First, questions - are you asking about a factory in Bangalore (Karnataka) or in Gujarat ??
The answer will depend on the location.
Many states have a local National And Festival Holidays Act, or other notifications that are applicable specifying certain days when the units have to declare a holiday. You need to check that out first before making changes to your holiday calander

Is this location in Bangalore or Ahmedabad ?
Each state has its own requirement for holidays.
you need to see the local Holidays Act if any and then decide whether you can or can not change the holiday calander
