Bhagavath Geeta On Perfect Organization Structure.

"When I read the Bhagavad-Gita and reflect about how God created this universe everything else seems so superfluous."- Albert Einstein

Management, be it of a kingdom or a business enterprise has to be based on a value system, which gives it a strong foundation. That management is successful where the value system is strong and rich that people love to identify themselves with it and give the cause the whole hearted cooperation.

For an efficient management the right ‘organization structure’ is the key and this is well described in the ancient scripture Bhagavath Geeta, the song of the Lord. As per Bhagavath Geeta, the social fabric of entire humanity (not Hindus alone) is classified into four distinct types on the basis of various action qualities inherent in respective individuals. These are categorized as Brahmins, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas and Shudras.

The activities of Brahmins, the Kshatriyas, the Vaishyas and the Shudras have been divided in accordance with the qualities of their nature. (Chapter 18 Verese-41)

Accordingly the Brahmins are thinkers, the Kshatrias are rulers, the,Vaishyas are money makers and the Sudhras are laborers.

Bhagavath Geeta’s Lesson To The Modern Organization’s Structure:

Management deals with people .Everyone is not brave , valiant, clever and sensitive. In an organization an employee may display varying characteristics of courage and cowardice, tolerance and intolerance, friendliness and enmity under different circumstances.

In an organization the advisory board or the Executives is considered to be the Brahmins, the think tank or knowledge creations. They create the new ideas and make decisions.

Managers are the Kashtryas, who implement the ideas and decisions as action.

TheEmployees or clerks or the sales team, are the Vaishyas who work in the company for profit. They ate mainly the ones who generate wealth for the organization.

Last but not the least there are Laborers who are the Shudras and who do the rest of the physical labour. In the context of an organization, these would be filing ,maintaining cleanliness, making deliveries and more.

The successful organizations give equal importance to all the four categories that are mentioned above.

Bhagavath Geeta’s Relavance To Human Body Structure.

Our head is considered to be the Brahmins since it contains our center of thinking.

Our hands are considered the Kshatrias since they are the organs of action, of doing things.

Our stomach is considered the Vaishyas since it keeps collecting different things.

Lastly, our feet are considered the Shudras since they take the load and the burden of the entire body.

Excellent interpretation. Our society deteriorated as the heirarachical structure became water tight and did not reamin flexible, where by people from the shopfloor even when good could not reach the top. Same happens in organisations where people at the top become corrupt (Brahmins or thinkers should not be self serving and work for the society).

I liked the presentation as a whole as the thought process is very clear and the elaborations/pictorial presentations are apt.
I loved the concept as it can help us explain many things we see in corporate world.
Since Brahmin, Kshatriya, Vaishya & Shudra are attitudes (unlike we see in the social structure where it is by birth), a sales person (Vaishya by the concept), by acquiring different skills-the managerial skills- penetrate the higher echelons of the pyramid. Thus it becomes an open- shall we say- a caste-less society.
It is also possible that being crowned Head HR and/or an MD because of family business, but not belonging to the arena because of lack of training, such a functional head is bound to fail as he/she does not fulfill the job function matrix.
Very nice presentation

Dear AVS ji,
Good interpretation!!
But this is only one aspect with which you attempted excellently to explain the state of affairs.
Their are other aspects and messages in Bhagwad Gita which could be helpful for humanity like personal development, social harmony, intellectual convictions, guidelines for moral and social conduct etc.
One point is humbly offered to all for pondering-
Topic- Personality Development (Basics)
The basic identity of every human being is that he/she is a spirit, not a body. The body is transient, while the basic identity, the spirit is permanent. (ref.Gita-Ch.II)
The ultimate goal of every being is to attain "uninterrupted or unlimited bliss and happiness". No limited or transient thing can give us complete satisfaction or peace.
Thus, always remembering and reminding to ourselves about our basic identity and ultimate goal will keep us on right track then whatever may happen to us in life.
regards

Dear Mr AVS,
Nice to see the interpretation of the song celestial that I missed in the past.
Classification of work for a society to function in an orderly way is a clear message.
The logic of extending the classification to the various parts of the body is interesting.
Above all the purpose of classifcation was only to ensure smooth functioning.
Unfortunately protracted minded people were indulged in self styled pseudo supermacy and started looking down upon others.
Bhagwat Geeta also says that deeds are more important than seeking an identity by birth.
Let us hope for a society where there is classification but no discrimination.
