Dear Colleague,
Employee Engagement is a concept that provides a high amount of engagement to the Talents day in and day out throughout the span of a lifetime in an organization.
Engagement is to provide the Talents with a pleasant feeling and experience in the work-life. Many organizations confuse Employee Engagement with the various events they hold in their organization, such as birthday functions, days with managers, evening dinners, weekend parties, etc. These are not considered employee engagement.
What really constitutes employee engagement is from the day the organization first interacts with the employee when they were a candidate until the day they leave the organization, either by resignation or retirement. These interventions may include, but are not limited to:
- Employee Value Proposition
- Personal care by Managers
- Role Clarity
- Role enhancement and enrichment
- Inspiring welfare measures for self and family
- Employee-friendly Policies
- Freedom in doing the job
- Challenging job opportunities
- New learning in the job
- Providing continuous learning opportunities in the job
- Career Growth upward and cross-functional
- Freedom to implement ideas and new thoughts
- Organizational Communication
- Open management philosophy
- Brand of Employer
- Support during crises of the employee
- Care for the Family of the employee through systems and policies
- Inclusiveness in all key decisions
- Periodic financial and non-financial rewards
The list continues depending on the tailored needs of the organization. Employee engagement interventions have to be decided internally by the organization, and it should be noted that they cannot be copied from other organizations as it will not be effective. You, as an Internal Manager for your organization, are in the best position to judge the needs. All the Best.
