Please advise if the Shop & Establishment certificate is mandatory in Chennai or not. I recently joined an organization (Service Industry) that has an office and warehouse in Chennai but does not have any registration certificate.
Kindly advise if it is mandatory or not. Ensure annual returns and PT, etc., are submitted to the government on time.

The notification giving effect to the amendment requiring registration of establishments under the TNSE Act, 1947 is kept in abeyance.
Therefore, it is not required to register the shops and establishments for the time being. For further details in this regard, you can contact the office of the Asst. Inspector of Labor for your area.
