Dear All, I have been working as an Executive HR in a Multinational since March 2010. Today, it has come to my knowledge that my Company has appointed a Colleague of mine (who was one year junior to me in college) on a grade above me on the post of Asso. Manager- HR.
Is there anything I should do about it. Please advise.

Please have a look at the trend in the company on where are freshers from college placed and at what grade? Your junior could be having some work ex prior to joining his post graduation, hence was taken on a higher grade. Companies usually have set guidelines on campus intake, with details of batch, placement in which grade, stream etc, to avoid disparity.
You can also approach your recruitmentg team and ask for clarification in your and your junior's case.

Thanks for the reply. My Company recruited me, through campus palcement last year and this year my junior was recruited through same procedure. Its apparent that my company has changed its recruitment policy in last one year regarding recruitment for my post.

Some times it happen when lateral entry takes place in any company. It is a fait accompli, you can do nothing but you can approach your management for consideration of your case if your performance level is satisfactory.

But this is highly unjust, that people recrutied from same college are not falling under the same grade of employment. Both of us were freshmen when we were recrutied. Is'nt there any Rule or Law regarding the same. I heard from someone that it is a duty of a company to maintain Bathc Parity and avoid Pay anomaly. Can yanyone suggest in that direction.

Leaving aside the semantics like 'Bathc Parity', etc, suggest learn to live & adapt to the changing situation/scenario as you gain experience.
If you recollect, 2010 was the year when the global recession was just receding & things were getting back to normal. Under those circumstances, MAYBE your company could handle only that package that was given to you THEN?
And things are far better this year which COULD have lead the company to revise the Campus Placement policies--so your junior got a better deal. Whether one agrees with it or not, that's reality.
All you can do now is what Pon suggested [...........approach your management for consideration............] OR what ukuk13 suggested [......look for a change......].
But also pl bear in mind that there's a downside if you implement Pon's suggestion--the possibility that your raising the issue COULD be treated as 'questioning the company policies after just year of service'. It would all depend on 'how' you raise the issue--if you raise it the way you raised in this Forum [sort of 'as a matter of right'], you would be inviting Trouble--with Capital T.

There is no law which speaks of equitable positioning/ parity from what I know. This is purely guided by the company policy. As mentioned, if here is a guideline for campus placement and intake, do get in touch with your recruitment team to find out more. For all you know, there may have been a change in policy, and you may be upgraded before the new batch joins..

+1 to that. The other side of the coin, you need to approach this very very sensitively. Do not make any unnecessary "panga" with your management, given that you are still very young in the organisation.
And laws of equity aside, in your future professional life, you would come across instances where people who you think are junior/ equal to you in terms of your parameters, would be getting more than you earn/ or occupying higher positions. Its a fact of life. Accept it and you will not feel bad about it. We all have learnt to accept this after many years of experience. It doesn't really matter in reality.
All the best and expend all your efforts towards becoming a seasoned HR professional wherever you work. No one can take away what you truly deserve.

It is happen to me also...I am a deputy manager in my previous company, one employee bring to my department as asst.manager she got more salary than me.... luckily i got an offer to get out from this parity issue even though i bring this issue to my management they will not listen.
Only thing you can do since you are in starting stage in your career look for better opportunity and move till the time try to learn more things in your job and try to prove yourself to your management that you worth to it....
