I heard that Maharashtra state election commission has issued circular saying that companies need to declare the holiday on 16th Feb-2012.
So is this compulsory for all the companies. can we ask employees to come late or ask them to go early.

The crux of the said GR for understanding would be-
To enable all the eligible voters within the corporations of concerned Districts to execute their right to vote, Maharashtra Govt orders all the shops and establishments, Hotels and lodges, restaurants, auditoriums, business houses, industrial establishments and other establishments that
1) All the workmen from the above mentioned establishments should be given paid Holiday on 16th February 2012 with regards to the Elections of Muncipal Corporations.
2) This GR will not be applicable in case of the establishments where there might be danger or major losses due to the mass absenteeism of workmen, but a special concession for two hours to be given to all such workmen.
All t e above mentioned concerned establishments are required to meticulously follow these orders.
