Hello,
I need suggestion on the following issue.
I have been working in a public sector bank for more than a year as probationary officer.
In due course i have been transferred twice per officers rules of the bank.Being a married lady it had been
very difficult for me and my family all these period.
However recently I again got a transfer letter for Kolkata too far away from my place.I have given transfer request three times to
my HR department in head office to change my order.

However unfortunately i have not recieved any communication from my head office from past two months and i haven't joined the new place of posting under an impression that my order would be changed to any place or zone near my family.

I dont know what should be done .its impossible for me to join the new place and secondly i havent recieved any communication from HR for why i have not joined the new place of posting.

I am in dilemma coz if I resign at this stage I have also to pay the bond amount
and my three months salary.

Can any body guide me on this matter.

Dear friend,

You have to bear in mind that transfer is an incidence of service and it is the prerogative of the employer to decide an employee's place of work and duration in a particular place based on the exigencies of work. Normally, the employee can not question it unless it is an vindictive act or colourable exercise of power.

Coming to your case, you have not mentioned whether your period of probation is over. Three transfers within a spell of three years is not a normal thing. Have you ever thought why you are alone subjected to frequent transfers and whether your performance was up to the expectations of your branch managers you served. No manager would be willing to have a non-performer in his staff. In such cases managers always resort to transfer rather than taking disciplinary action. So, have a self-introspection of your performance and try to better it.

You should not neglect the transfer orders already issued in anticipation of its cancellation upon your request. No written communication of cancellation for the last two months means that your request has not been considered. Better make a personal representation to the HR Manager.

Sir,
Thank you for the response.
I have been transfered coz i am still in probationary phase.and they usually transfer thrice during two years of probation.
First two phases for six months each and the last one being for one year.
In my case ,however i am not a non performer ,infact my Branch manager himself requested Zonal manager to retain me .
My area of concern is what should be done even i made personal represenation to Hr directly stating my inability to join the new place.
I am so worried that in case i leave this job first of all i have to pay them and secondly will they hive negative review or declare me being absconding.
Pls give you views.
Thank you.

Dear friend,
If certain no. of transfers within the period of probation is the rule, you have to obey the orders. Every married working lady undergoes such a problem in her career life and as such you have no choice if you want to continue in the job. If posting a Probationary Officer at Calcutta is a must in view of his/her job requirement, certainly your request can not be considered at all. Otherwise, in stead of asking for cancellation you can request for a transfer to a similar nearby city. Leaving the job for once for all for the inconvenience of transfer does not seem to be a proper decision to me. Then it is up to you because only the wearer knows where the shoe pinches!

If transfer is a condition of your service then you have to obey it. Unless and until you can prove that transfer is due to victimization or punishment, you cannot challenge such transfer before the court of law.

Sir,
I totally agree with your views.
I even have requested them two other places in different zones.somewhere near my family, any branch.
Its not necessary that i should be posted in calcutta only.as per norms we have to work in different zones during probation. I requested for any zone nearby.
But unfortunately i was disheartened by insensitiveness of my HR dept.
In the meanwhile I only see bleak furure of mine in this organisation
and deeply regret joining it.
I even have contacted GM Hrm ,CM HRM,
ZM of my current zone but none bothered to lend any help in this regard .my Gm was so angry that he
even shouted over phone as to why i had contacted him.
Such insensitive behavior on the part of HR was not expected.
Anyways,I think i need to try and way out of this .
Thank you again for yoyr helpful words.
Regards,
Banker
