Why only a few get selected from the colleges during campus interviews. In spite of having same scores only a few get in and many are rejected. What should the candidate do for getting selected. One of my friend is Dejected having lost the campus interview. He is blaming his placement officer in Engineering Stream was partial. He is also worried about the new batch which would be completing their Engineering graduation in just few months. Please give some tips for him in particular and also to others in similar position. What should the student currently pursuing his studies do to get selected. Thanks in advance for your valuable comments

This campus interview schemes work only for disciplines where there is scaricity of talent.
Now a days people forget the basic purpose of campus interview.....
What is improtant and objective is to attract, reward and retain the talent in organization for capitalization of opportunities in the market.
For example, NDTV, IBN, Aajtak like organization has best talent hunt for their organization to be in business with bigbang and their quality of professional presenters is quite visible.
Unlike newly campus interview talent hunted by corporates resulted in among same lots or people find everywhere and have nothing special to rate their potential or makes any impact.
Campus interview does not always work if they tries to recruit people within a budget but only works for extraordinary talent hunt case who doesnot have the limit and company who hire such talent does not resctict their budget for acquiring them.
This is makes difference in real campus interview and fill in the blanks interview as rituals or some companies rather going for serious recruiting just visit for publicity and propoganda of their company on campus and believe me majority are falling this catagories only.

Dear Friend
You have received many invaluable advice here in this forum.
Just to add a few:
one of the reason of your friends dejection could be that he was over confident that he will get some IT job or other. (I would be very happy if this is not the case). We find this attitude amongst many trainees these days. So our suggestion would be.
1. Ask him to keep brushing up of his technical knowledge
2. Ask him to have an assessment about his current skill set. Because now a days the Employers look forward for people with good skill set. ( communication skills, presentation skills, team building, working under pressure, etc.) . Let him practice for Groups discussion, constantly try and improve his Biodata.
3. Let him not loose hope but let improve his personality(Knowledge, attitude & skills) so he becomes successful.
4. From his experience the learning should be all the Students when they concentrate to get their know aspect- should also concentrate on skills and attitude.
We Wish him all the best
