Hello Tanvi

You need to have clear perception about HR. HR does not mean recruitment alone but it is far beyond it.Th hiring function at corporate level is not going through job portals and downloading CVs. It includes assessment of manpower requirement, preparing job profiles and then deciding the qualifications, experience, knowledge levels and skill sets required for each job and thereafter go for recruitment. The recruitment firms will be concerned with the last process mostly.Further HR has a wide spectrum of functions like policy framing, pay roll, training needs assessment, performance management, employee engagement employee relations, settlements and union negotiations, disciplinary management, conciliation and adjudication and statutory compliances etc. You have only recruitment profile which may not fit int the totality of HR profile.. Since you are MBA with marketing, why don't you go for marketing. Marketing has in itself different profiles like brand management, business development, business analysis, product design etc. which are interesting.

Sales skills are also relevant to hiring function. You need to function like a HR salesman. You need to sell a company's position to a potential candidate who possess the kind of talent , the company is looking for..As a salesman has to focus on unique and differentiating features of a product that can answer a customer's need, to market the product, as recruiter, too you need to highlight the features of corporate which the candidate is looking for to sell the position to him. Next time when you go to interview for a HR position i recruitment or hiring explain to them as to how your marketing knowledge will be relevant to recruitment. Besides, you can do a certification course in HR generalist function or pay roll etc to enhance your employ-ability in HR function.
