You could have given little more elaborate post as to why you have raised this query, what is your industry, what is your designation, have you raised query for your academic course etc.
Every industry has certain norms to work. Therefore, what works in one industry may not work in another. Within industry also there is tremendous difference. Take the case of Japanese auto manufacturers and American auto manufacturers. There is a difference in their management style.
Best practices depend on the culture of the company also. Culture is shaped by the leadership at the top. Secondly, what kind of people you have in the company also depends. Their qualification, experience, IQ level, intellectual level etc have strong fall back on the best practices. Therefore, there is no one-size-fit-all rule.
While there are agencies but then why they will share information with you? The agency will provide consulting services according to your requirement.
