Dear all,

I am working in 5* Hotel as SENIOR HR ASSt. earning salary of Rs. 7000/- per month, I am 26 years old (D.O.B 11-07-1986)

My father was working as A.P. Govt. School Teacher, unfortunately he died on 27-09-2011. due to Ill Health while he was in service.

Andhra Pradesh Govt. is offering me a Govt. job as Cleark(10+2 Qualification) (Group IV) in some govt. office, salary would be 12000/- to 17000/-

I got offer in X hotel as HR Executive salary of 15,000/- reason i rejected is I have joined in the present concern on Feb-2010, i like to finish at least 2 years of service.

My qualification is M.B.A (HRM) I have 3 year experience in HR field, March - 2011 my company is going to hike my salary but it wont reach 10,000/- may be I will get promotion also.

I completed M.A(History), M.Phil(Management) and doing MSc(Psychology) through distance mode.

My wish is to Survive in HR field, i love this profission, I am little good in Statory and Staff Welfare.

I do not wish to work with govt. because if i prefer govt. job i have to be in remote area, and because of job security I may become IDLE.

If i ignore this job no one is there in my family to take this offer(Mother is aged) I am the only option.

Dear seniors pls do suggest me which one I have to prefer either Govt job(clerk) or Private job(HR)

Dear Dinesh,
Let me be very practical in this regard. If the govt job offered to you is on permanent basis then irrepective of salary, please go ahead and join it. I understand that you have little interest in this but by the time lapse, slowly and gradually you would generate your interest there.
My opinion is to go ahead and grab the opportunity. In private sector people do whatever but there are very less chances of a secure career which you would also realise on day.

Dear Dinesh,

My advice to you: NEVER, NEVER, NEVER try for clerical job in any State Government.

With your qualification of MA, MBA, MPhil, I would never advise you to do a job of clerk in the Government where horses and asses are equated, more particularly in State Government organisations. I don't know about the grouping of posts in the Andhra Government organisation. But, i feel you are mis-informed about Group-IV post, which is normally equivalent to just a peon in any Government offices. Clerks in Government offices are normally in Group-III (or Group-C) cadres.

Even if the post is clerical, the worst thing would be when you will have to work with people with qualification of 10+2 in your own cadre of service and you would feel quite downgraded. Not only that when you would have to work as a subordinate below some much less qualified superior, you would get frustration and repent why you chose to select that career. By that time you would be over age to opt for some other good career, or to revert back to lucrative career from such a low category job. Promotional avenues would be rare in the Government department unless you qualify different competitive examinations of the department you are posted.

Better try for some good job in some good company. However, if you wish to join Government service, when you have such a qualification, you must try for some Group-A (Class-I) post of the Central Government, which you can compete through Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), as with your age of 26 years, you are very well eligible to take the competitive tests (Preliminary & Main) of the UPSC. You may like to refer the brief plan of different examinations conducted by the UPSC from the following link:

Dear Dinesh
Please follow the instructions given by Mr. Dhingra Sir. Because, joining in State Government Clerical job needs only SSLC qualification and your degrees will become waste. Initially you have to struggle a lot. But one fine day you will feel that we have done a correct selection by selecting a private sector job.
All the best.

Dear Dinesh,

If your surrounding people are more literate than you, if they know everything about jobs only then follow their instructions. Otherwise, use your own brain to weigh pros & cons of lower category jobs with higher qualifications. You should be judge of your own cause. Your career depends upon your own wisdom, not at the compulsion of your surroundings. Rest depends upon your own luck, if you are to follow only your surroundings. Nobody would be able to help you in that case.

If you are interested only in Government jobs, I have also suggested you the way to reach Group-A (Class-I) post directly of the Central Government, by virtue of which, you can not only be collector/ District Magistrate or equivalent but would also rise to much height in the Government of India. Every year Government of India recruits high level Officers though UPSC. The minimum quaalification of which is just a simple degree in any strem, whereas you have 3 degrees of higher qualification. You have the calibre to touch the heights of your career, but clerical job would put a stigma on your career and become a barrier for your elevation in your career in life time.

I can only wish the best of luck to you.

Dear Dinesh,
Just listen to people you are close to. Your family. relatives. Its very easy to say going for class a job and trying for upsc/ias but in reality it is not as easy as it looks. Missing the opportunity which you are getting would lead you to regrets in future.
Go ahead and join the job. You can also keep trying for higher opportunities by staying within that job as well. No body has said that do not stop trying.

Dear Seniors I have decided to go with HR Profession.
There is no value for my degrees, the reason is all the degrees are done in india. Still i am getting Rs. 7000/-P.M. if i joined some where i will get 15000/- not more than that.
To give some more weightage to my credentials i wanna do a diploma course(HR or Training & Development) in Western Country.
Is that a good Decision if so How to Start.

Dear Mr.Dinesh,
Don't miss the opportunity at the same time the job you got may be lower level as you have the qualifications in future you may write some exams and go upwards. In Govt. you have more secured job rather when you compare with Private sector. Think and act as per your intrest, family intrest, security and other aspect.
Wishing you a great success.

Thiru
