I am just curious about how the pay packet is decided and what parameters are taken into consideration. Also, if the person's capability and profile are directly proportional to the remuneration being offered.

The image of a high-performing CEO is what attracts companies to hire individuals who possess the creativity, genius, and vision to lead companies from stagnation to high growth. A substantial pay package for a CEO can yield dividends and turn the company around if the individual succeeds; therefore, pay should not be a barrier for the right CEO.

Whether it is justified or not will reflect in the bottom line, and I am sure the owners of companies know the value add a person is providing. If they don't believe there is value added, they will not retain that person. As long as it's not coming from your pocket, why are you worried.

Dear Tushank,
The salary for CXOs in a startup is directly calculated from the growth it promises. Recently, an Ecom was looking for a product head at 50 Lacs PA. The growth promised to the investors is what the new role has to deliver.
In fact, to be honest, the person drawing that amount will deliver a lot more, as the investor takes a few X of the capital invested. Hope that answers your question.
