Dear Dinesh,
You are well educated with good degrees. You should stick on to the current company for sometime, till you pursue some more courses. This is the time to study, considering your age.
Your qualificiation does not suit the Govt.job and moreoever, you cant perform as a "HR professional" in Govt. jobs. Rules are made and you are to ensure that people who deviate, do not get caught. If you look at HR as a career, you should not join any Govt. job. It will stagnate your thoughts and creativeness. But if you want a job for salary sake, you should take a Govt. job. Moreover, the jealousy which will linger around you, will kill your motivation level (by virtue of your degree).
So dont worry, just carry on with what you are doing now. Pursue courses. You are worth more than a Clerical Govt. job. All the best.

Dear Pillai,
My sincere advice is that you opt for the government job immediately as you rightly said all the
qualifications obtained by you are Indian and that too not from big business schools.
As you are very young, try to do some law courses (distance education mode - National law
school of Indian universities at Bangalore) simultenously and try for big posts in private sector
where compensation will be better.
As suggested elsewhere also prepare for UPSC and try to move upwards in the Government sector
itself.

Dear Dinesh

You have taken a very wise step to opt for private sector (refer your post of y/day). To tell you the truth, I took the same decision albeit after 2 yrs of joining Govt. service way back in eighties and have never regretted. I also lost my father who was in Govt. job and got a clerical job on compassionate grounds. Since the times then were totally different and we were hardly aware about alternate non-technical careers in private sector & due to family pressures (all were in Govt. jobs, including my mother) I took the Govt. job. However within 1 year, I was clear that it was not my cup of tea and then I did PG in HR and got through to my first private sector job as a HR trainee in an Indian MNC. It was very tough call to leave Govt. job, but I did not pay heed to anyone and resigned. Somewhere down the line, I completed my MBA in HR. Now having spent over two & half decades in private sector in various Indian & MNCs I reached to the level of Group HR Head of a large conglomerate.

So congratulations my friend and as they say - well begun is half done... all the best.

Go & Join Govt Job, in long run you find every thind there. As far as Pvt Sector is concern it is plateform of low & mean group people in Indian based company.
Indian employer are like buttering. this is the main reason to close the indian companies after one or two generation.

[B]Dear Seniors and Friends,
I have been in the field of Hr for last 2 and 1/2 years got an MBA from a Govt.University.After working so long I am still surviving in a mediocre salary (20,000 p.m ) and more bad thing is I am still searching for some meaningful responsibilities and measurable inputs to the corporate goals. No offense but that is why we are observing a vary attrition rate in HR field(for beginners and freshers). My opinion is PSU jobs better as you will find a definite job role with some sort of securities in your career. And regarding future, there will be numbers of opportunities waiting for you in the future as internal promotion and exams are a normal practice in maximum of PSUs.
If I were in your position,I would have taken the PSU offer for a long run benefit.

Dear Dinesh,
I agree with Harpreet Walia, Human Resource Professional and advice you to join Govt Job.
I will advice you to appear for internal exams for promotions. You are qualified person and you will sucesseed. There also you can get elevated to Gr.1 after passing out internal exams.
Govt job is better, as on date it is giving better cash in hand, job security, medical benefits to you & your family and with passing time you can get fast promotions on passing internal exams.
In private firms, you have to beg for increment & promotions. Only reputed firms have good pay scaces and they care for their employees. In govt. sector, your medical is free, enough holidays/ leaves are there, you get LTC and other benefits, which are not reflected in your pay package.
You can be under Grade 1 after clearing internal exams and enjoy more benefits.
