Take the opportunity -relocate , work for some time & see if things are getting ok in the company ,else lookout for better prospects and them move out serving the notice period ... today it is only business and whatever gyan is given it is only for others not for person who give it .. business as usual gentlemen.

(Note: My parent company is not in INDIA, it is one of the prestigious Group of Companies in UAE)
This is the reflection of nothing but "RECESSION".
Mr. Rajkumar understood things more clearly. But you should be cautious when you work in Middle East that there is only such 'cut-throat policies' & 'dog-eat-dog philosophies' in almost all companies there despite their higher packages.
You can expect ANYTHING next morning! They may take back your vehicle, cut the allowance, send on open long leave or even a termination without any notice. (How many of you know that the termination comes to you like when you come to the duty in the morning as any other normal working day, the receptionist stops you and tells you: "Sorry Sir, I have an instruction from legal department - management - not to allow you inside office from today"(!!!))
On 29/09/09 evening I recieved a cc mail- which distributed among all other divisions' managers- from our parent company's another branch in a different emirate that they are going to reduce their 40% labors & staffs! List was attached with a note that 'the listed employees will be stopped from the work from 1st of October 09'.
Even if I refuce the offer the post of 'logist controller', the present logist controller might be cancelled and the company will outsource the work to any other frieght forwarding agencies.
As Mr. R P Swamy said, If the situation changes, everything will change. Chairman is really tough. If I try to make a little BENT, it will BREAK. I never can use 'If's with him.
What I did is, wrote to Chairman that to call me back from Africa at ANY condition, I can work in any suitable posts according to my differnent field experience at any branches in UAE, and not to reduce my salary. 2 days No Reply. Instead I got another 40% of employees reduction list!
Dear Sanjay, practically no notice period and such formalities in Middle East normally, those are only described labor laws and if you are in to labor court. If any present employer knows that you are looking for another job, he will try to delay your termination intentionally, or even try to put an year Ban or even a lifetime ban to the country - according to the sponsor's hold in immigration department.
Only the wise, steady & slow move will help in this case, I believe.
