Hi Berny,
All poured on very valuable suggestions.
All those are right and I stand as an example for that.
After completing my MBA, I joined consultancy and after having enough experience, I tried for a core HR job.
In the beginning, I had tough time getting one, but some companies wants candidates who has more exposure towards recruitment. The company after selecting you may give you 60%(percentage may wary) of the recruitment work and 40% after other activities initially and later the percentages may wary. So starting with consultancies gives you a good result.
Try for core HR jobs only after couple of years and with those companies who wants candidates with recruitment experience.
ALL THE BEST
Thanks

I absolutly disagree with this!
Working for a recruitment firm is indeed a great step fwd before you join a corporate sector. Well, i would go to the extent that, you could carry on with your recruitment career in search firms itself, which is very existing.
My answer may seem as if i own or work for a search firm. Well, no. I have been into recruitment in corporate houses only, however have been exposed to many search firms. We are really impressed by the work of many-a-recruiters at the search firms whom we very willingly take. There is a big trend infact which is going on to recruit recruiters from search firms into corporate houses. Search firms specialize in recruitments, hence people who work for them, have a very firm footing into recruitments and are already handling requirements for the companies, and corporate sector is realiazing that, since recruiting them is far more economical.
Ya, there are just any search firms and there are the manpowers, kellys etc, Just like there are top dick companies, and there are good companies. Hence, to have real good exposure into receruitments, choose the search firm since thats what is going to define your knowledge. Since most search firms wont be that big, you need to understand the person who is running that, what kind of a exposure does he himself have into recruitments, then only you can deside if you have things to learn from them or not.
Ya everybody, any tom dick and harry can do recruitments, but any tom dick and harry cannot be the best in that firld. Be that, and you are recognized!!!!!!!

Lalit
