Dear Seniors,
Why the companies not prefer the candidates from Placements.
I am having 2 yrs of experience in Recruitment and Admin under placements. I am looking for opportunities with companies but I found that they are prefering the candidates having experience with companies not with placements.
And In HR is it Important that you basically belong to that area where company is situated
Can I do the SAP HR Course and proceed further
Kindly provide me the fruitful advise

Hello,

Don't be disappointed.

Recruitment is just one the facets of the total HR function. One does a regular course in HR from some well known or from some not too well known an institute and looks forward to a great HR career. Nothing wrong in this at all.

You get (hopefully) all round exposure/training in fundamental concepts and practices in HR and that motivates you strongly, BUT the employment market is generally described as under:

1) Where established companies are concerned, the incidence of recruitment is expectedly low and openings are available generally only at the entry level.
2) In many cases the jobs are available in IR for which students are neither sufficiently trained at the instituts nor are the students themselves very willing to accept IR positions expecially these are manufacturing sector jobs, knowledge of albour laws, possession of mindsets to deal with Unions, Govet officials are some of the necessary infredients of the jobs.
3) In service sectors, core HR demands very strong core HR skills and unless one has done "apprenticeship" under good people, one finds the entry rather difficult.

Recrutiment is good business, especially in service sector. Recruiters are in great demand and those who are willing to sacrifice HR skills for the sake of ample money do find comfort in such jobs. To be a good recruiter you don't have to do MBA (HR) or any such high end course.

So, your experience is not strange. The companies need comprehensive skills and you are able to present only Recruitment experience/skills as hands on stuff and the rest as academic learning acquired a few years ago and could not be practiced for many reasons. Also the lure of good money and impressive designations that Recruitment Companies offer, make a many a new pass outs to take up such jobs in a hurry and repent later.

More the facets to a diamond the greater is its value. This applies to human life too. Sooner one realises, the better it will be for him/her!

My advice would be to additional course in core HR, may be even SAP-HR and seek an entry in core HR function in an industry of your choice. For this even if you have to pay a "price" as it were (in terms of accepting relatively lower salary than your present salary), it will be worth taking the cut for securing your future full of worthwhile functional engagement.

If you need more interaction on this feel free to take an independent contact (if you do not desire open discussion on the discussion board).
