Hi usha
Before i reply would like to know what is your qualification.
Basically IT recruitment job required , person can be from any background education
Only required is Good communication , can understand technologies and some other factor
But for HR , person should have knowledge of Recruitment , Performance appraisal , statutory compliance ( ACTs), Industrial relation.( this is for Core HR).
Lot of companies ( MNCs) are recruiting HR Specialists, means specialization in particular area like Recruitment , Performance appraisal , statutory compliance ( ACTs), Industrial relation .
If you want more details about HR mail to me

MBA-HR is a must...if ur interested in shifting to Generalist, then you need to have an MBA degree, preferably regular mode

not necessarily do an MBA.... I think good knowlegde is imp...it need not be bookish info... if u do PGDHRM also its fine... rest is on u... how u go ahead in ur career

Hai...
I strongly feel that an MBA is a key for the door of HR. But if u feel that you don't have time or you don't have that patience to go through the MBA program for next 2 years and if u feel how would the market be after 2 years, then it's high time you sit and work seriously on the HR aspects. The first step is to see what are the activities that a core HR is doing in your compeny. you can very well get that info from your friends in the same company. Please make a list of items you need to know about. Start preparing on them. It would definitely take another 6 to 8 months for hard core preparation. you can definitely get into general hr by asking for a role change after 8 months of preparation on these aspects. Every HR in a good company would be given a chance.
If you have any queries on this please send me a mail to . I would send you the list of HR activities that you need to concentrate.
