Hello everyone,

I am Asif. I find this site superb, awesome, and very helpful.

Basically, I own a plastic bottle factory and am finding difficulty in setting up a system.

I would be really grateful if someone could refer me to a book on system development. By system, I mean aspects such as the format and use of time cards, who the tertiary labor should be accountable to (such as the shift in-charge), how to manage different types of inventories, the control procedures, and any suggested formats.

The problem I face is that I live in Bangladesh where the majority are daily basis laborers. Some work only 2 days a month, then leave, and after 7 months, they come back and work 15 days. Many daily basis workers work only when required. How do I manage the most efficient system of record-keeping and hours recording?

Can you please advise whether time card punching is cost-effective for daily basis workers?

I feel it is not, since they might take the card as labor turnover is very high. Labor turnover varies; therefore, please do not suggest ways to reduce turnover. The factory is located in a situation and operates in an environment where labor turnover is high.

Hi Asif,

I think you need to implement an ERP software at your factory which manages all your processes and provides you with results regarding profit and loss, working hours of employees, their performance, inventory (from purchase planning to MRN), various types of stock, sales and purchase reports, and also calculates your daily production. Along with all this, it will also manage your HR and payroll functions, automatically calculate salaries, and generate various types of reports such as salary slips, salary registers, attendance cards, PF statements, income tax statements, and more. For more details, please send an email to viksat@yahoo.com or call +91-980-305-9002.

Hi Asif,

Please recruit a very competent HR Manager with good pay so that you get a knowledgeable person to support your system development with expertise in HR aspects, inventory, and financial management systems. A professional with a sound MBA in HRM degree should also have a knowledge base in financial management and stores management, as this is part of an MBA program. If you want to secure a good and competent candidate to support your business, you need to allocate a sufficient budget for top-level management. They will be able to support and take responsibility to enhance your business and the system development you are looking for.

Take care,
Shaams

Hello Asif,

It'll be another way to attend different types of HR training, share with experienced HR persons. Then you can implement or make new ideas and standards for your factory. Best of luck.

Dear Asif,

I got your point. Yes, you can do so with your minimum investment in a PC and office package for inventory and payroll. No ERP or anything required. I am not sure if you still require this. Let me know if you are still in the same situation, and I will get back to you.
