Dear All,
I am working with an IT company. We are planning to go for campus recruitmant. Can anybody help me how to go about it.
1. What all steps we follow.
2. How many rounds should be their.
3. What will be the training process.
4. How long we can keep them on probation period.
5. What will be their stipend.
6. For confirmation do we need to give them any projects / presentation.
Need your inputs on this.

Dear Sara,
I can totally understand ur prob.I went through it myself yesterday and this is wht we did.
We first had an Operations Person give an overview to all about the Industry, Company and then opportunities available.
We then, asked them for queries and cleared their doubts.
Aftre this we did the initial screening through a test and short listed the candidates.After shortlisting we have now told them we will get back to them within a a week.
In this week we will discuss their projects and try to find out their areas of interests.
About the stipend, well i think the company must pay some stipend since ultimately though they are on a project they are working for the organization. Also since they are getting paid they are more motivated to do their best.
About the Probation- It normally is 6 months.

How are you??
Shweta has given a good idea on how to go for Campus.
After the intoduction of the company, and the written test, i would suggest to go for Group Discussion and Extempore.
These two activities will help you shortlist the confident and smart people, rather than Over confident students. I firmly believe this exercise works.
The stipend can be told to the students clearly, it should not be discussed at the later stages.
I would like to know though, for which posts you require the candidates.

Well nice to see a reply from you I think this will help a lot. We are looking for Developers positions. We are just planning to have Campus recruitment, that why I am preparing the things before hand so that I can start implementing that without any delay. Just doing my homework :wink:

Hi Sara,

Good to hear that you are going for the campus recruitment. I agree with Shweta and Archana who has given their valuable suggestions to you. I would like to add some more points to them. Once you finish your briefing about the company, make them understand the competition on the present market and how to overcome the interviews and what exactly you look during the time of Interviews. If we can given them few tips and suggestions, students who dont get thru in your interview can prepare themselves better for the following campus drives.

Lets give them a helping hand in shaping up their career.

Followed by the written test, u can conduct GD where you can filter the people and a basic technical interview and finally with a HR round to check the confidence levels and attitude. I am sure the entire program wil take a day or maximum two days depending on the student strength. I have conducted around 40 campus drives in my career till now.

Select the candidates with the right attitude, good communication skills and with basic technical knowledge.

important thing what we need to see also the number of backlog these guys have. In the most of the current drive people have one or two back log and some time company HR without verifying the mark sheet take in to company and people are writing exam after joining company.
Also i feel the test papers needs to be valued by the company person or person not from that college. there is lot of fraud happening and even money is paid for getting the job at that stage.
company need to frame policy and procedure for this. Need to involve the the person who are going to take them for their work. otherwise they will always curse HR for recruiting . Involve means after written test these people also participate as a panel member.
