Well Recession has done terrible damage to the Training & Development sector.
When recession hits, companies cut back on trainers & the training budget- Which is understandable-, as companies have to minimise their risks and secure themselves for 'hibernation mode'
But companies lack the guts to pursue the risk of maintaining their training budget or even increasing it during these times.
You see 70 % of a businesses untapped potential lies in its people- so by exploring & capitalizing on the potential your staff has to offer during recession, you actually give yourself a competitive edge.
Companies need to learn how to leverage the value that their staff offer, more effectively & this can be done by training.
However! It must be noted that training can only have a positive affect during recession if:
- The training has a strong bearing on the bottom line/ productivity
- The training provided is quality focused
- Follow up programs are conducted to ensure the impact of the tr4aining program
This is just a basic off the bat opinion- hope it helped.
