Hi,
My father was working for an organization for last two years. He shifted to another company last month. After 5 working days in the new company he expired.
Now, whats the best possible way to get his PF death benefits?
His old employer saying he is not eligible for EDLI claim(though he died just 4 days after his resignation).
Current employer saying he is eligible for nothing there since he completed only 5 days.
Can someone guide me pls...

Can comment only on the death claim under EDLI.
It is the new employer's duty to pay the death claim benefit. The claim benefit would be in the range of Rs. 65,000 and Rs. 1 lakh. You should ask the employer to show them the proof that a) they have actually enrolled the employee in the EDLI policy, b) the condition in the policy where it says the amount is not admissible.

Hi abhishek,
What we heard from the employer is, he is not eligible for EDLI since he hasn't served a certain period in that company.
My question is, how much service is required to be eligible for EDLI?
I saw the joining documents of my dad, and he has signed the EPF documents..
