This is the present EPF Organisation's employee friendly attitude. A letter declaring the correction along with attendance register, last payslips etc would do the purpose of correcting the same in the PF portal. But when the EPFO itself has declined to be cheaper than a private insurance company, we can expect such kinds of objections based on law. at the same time, if you visit the PF Ofice, at 4.45 pm, you will find vacant seats and when it come to their case, the law that they are expected to be available till 5.30 pm will not apply to them. It is very easy for them to help the representatives of a deceased member. But they will not do it because they consider the members as slaves. They do not think that EPFO is an organisation for the members and without members they have no existence.

The remedy to establish that the member died while in service to claim EDLI is to get a declaration jointly signed by the employer supported by the copy of the muster roll to prove that he had signed the register till the day of demise and a pay slip to prove that till that day he was paid salary. If that does not materialise send a complaint to the Commissionerate of the EPFO.
