Dear Member,
The death date is December 2018, and in December 2020, the query is posted. Whereas the employer has to update the EPFO immediately about the death. Now you have also annexed the list of rules. So, what exactly is found by the practicing HR of the establishment? And to what extent did they extend help to the family of the deceased?
Now coming to the abstract, as the member has not completed even one year, so the death will be subject to scrutiny. 1.5 lacs may be granted by EPF on account of EPS claim, provided the claim is found eligible and complete in all contexts.

Respected sir,
EDLI claim submitted on 16/12/19 and passed by EPFO on 07/12/20.
EDLI claim amount: 1507+1507 (both nominee accounts for mother & father). When I asked EPFO how to calculate EDLI death claim, they replied, "Member's service less than 12 months, EDLI benefits are paid as per rules calculated by the system." Is this the correct answer by EPFO?

Dear Member,
The picture does not become clear with your post and reply. If the member joined in December 2018 and his contribution was paid on time, KYC was completed while he was alive, and nomination was filed when he was alive, and the employer submitted the exit with the reason being death within 2 days of the incident, then a different picture will emerge.
Please inquire with the employer and HR department regarding compliance in a date-wise format. If available, please post again. In cases of short service death and belated compliance, settling basic insurance can be challenging.
Thank you.

EDLI calculation for less than 12 months contribution is different from 30 or 35 times of average basic plus 50% of balance EPF . I am also searching as not able to recall.
