Dear Anony,

As far as I know, only active subscribers of EPFO are eligible for EDLI benefits. As a pensioner, if there is no contribution made to your PF account, you are not eligible for EDLI benefits.

Hello there,

The EDLI Scheme covers all employees, irrespective of whether they are working or retired. They should be a member of the EPF, with the insurance amount based on the basic salary of an employee, providing coverage up to 6 lakh.

Hello there,

The following response is incorrect: EDLI only covers those who are actively employed at the time of death.

EDLI Scheme covers all employees, irrespective of whether they are working or retired. They should be a member of the EPF, and the insurance money is based on the basic salary of an employee, with coverage up to 6 lakh.

Dear All,

Please note that the EDLI wage limit is presently Rs15,000/- per month. All EPF members during their employment/EPF membership come under the purview of EDLI. Employers will contribute to EDLI at 0.50% of EDLI wages. EDLI benefits are paid only for death while in service. The moment an employee leaves service, they cease to be an EDLI member. Government pensioners will receive EDLI benefits after their death. The EDLI scheme covers all employees, irrespective of whether they are working or retired.

Thank you.
