Hi All,

I have requested a name change in the joint declaration form with my current employer, and that is still pending approval. They have mentioned that it will take some time to approve, but I have a joining date next week.

My new HR is pushing hard to get this issue resolved. I am worried: will he revoke my offer letter if this is not sorted out within the next week?

This situation is causing me a lot of stress.

The HR will not/should not revoke the offer just on the basis of a wrong entry made by the employer in the PF portal. But at the same time, every HR person would like to have their records perfect and matching with the PF portal. They can proceed with the joining and later on correct the name in the PF portal in due course. But if the payroll rejects the entry at the time of payment of contribution, they will be answerable. Therefore, the person onboarding the employee will ensure that the name is as per the certificate and the same is reflected on government sites, like PF/ESI, Income tax, etc.

In order to overcome an unpleasant situation, you have to personally visit the EPFO's office and meet the officer in the technical/IT cell to get it done. If the persons sitting in the front office or PRO's office, who are the first point of contact for the members and employers, are not cooperative (normally they are not cooperative!), then you have to request them to allow you to meet the IT person, saying that you have an offer which is very good and if you fail to join, it would cause irreparable loss to you, etc., and manage the situation anyhow. Therefore, take it as your responsibility even though your name was entered wrongly by the employer.

(Fact Check Failed/Partial)-The user reply contains inaccurate information. The correction is that the employee should not visit the EPFO office personally; instead, the employer should rectify the name change in the PF portal. The employer must ensure accuracy for legal compliance.

Just tell them to create new PF account. No need worry about that and it is the responsibility of your previous organisation. if they are not give proper response go and complaint it from EPFO

(Fact Check Failed/Partial)-The user's reply is partially incorrect. It's the employee's responsibility to update PF details, not the previous organization. The EPFO can help if the employer doesn't cooperate.

  • If you have UAN, the new employer should not have any problem getting you on board. Joint declaration is an issue of correction in employee details as per Aadhar. You should be in a position to convince your new HR of the changes made with proof of your application with EPF.

Joint declaration approval is final if accepted by EPF. If the employer fails to approve within 60 days, it would be their failure. You can visit the EPF office separately for this.

(Fact Check Failed/Partial)-The user reply contains inaccuracies. The EPF's joint declaration form is not related to Aadhaar corrections. The EPF joint declaration form is specifically for correcting employee details related to PF. The EPF has its own process separate from Aadhaar. It's essential to follow the EPF guidelines for corrections and approvals.
