Hello friends,

I have joined a new company last month. Before that, I was working with a company in Mumbai, and there I had an employment bond of 2 years. So, before completing the bond period, I left that company because I didn't like the environment there. Due to this, they didn't give me the experience letter and relieving letter. Here in the new company, I have submitted an experience letter which was prepared by copying my colleague's experience letter. Now, during background verification, the old company manager knows that I have produced an unauthorized experience letter. He is threatening me that he is going to file a police case against me. They are also insisting that I pay the bond amount. What should I do in this situation? I regret that I have used a fake experience certificate. Please help me out, friends.

Hi Sonali,

Providing a fake experience certificate may cost you your job, and you can be in a problem legally and morally. It's actually a wrong practice. You could have joined the new company by telling them about your bond and how you left that job. Now, the manager can file a complaint against you as he knows about the fake certificate.

Bond in our country is not legalized; some companies use them without legal sanction. If you had just left the organization without producing the fake certificate, they would not have taken any action against you. But now, this is a problem.

Talk it out with your ex-manager. Explain your situation that you cannot pay the money, you need the job, and other relevant details. Talking politely is the only way out. I'm sure he will understand. Try it out.

Nothing can change a situation of the past. So, it's better to face the situation and speak to the manager. Make him understand that what you did was wrong and that you are ashamed of it. Assure him that you are willing to make up for the wrong done, maybe by training the replacement in your place about the job work. Make him understand that it was not the job that you disliked but the environment that forced you to do whatever you did. Moreover, two wrongs don't make one right. Wait for his reaction on the same, and he will let you know what to do further.

Dear Friend,

Kindly let me know what exact environment you are talking about that led you to resign. Only then can I provide you with a concrete solution to come out of this bizarre situation. There will be no legal action taken against you by your last employer.
