Hi all,

My friend asked about some employee engagement activities. Management requested to implement activities similar to those in TCS. He mentioned critical thinking, but we are unsure of the details. If anyone from TCS HR or knows about this, please share your ideas and activities. Urgent, please.

Thank you.

Dear Sum_786,

What is the nature of your industry? Are you from an IT company? What is the size of your company? What is the headcount?

Small companies can benchmark against industry leaders. However, benchmarking is defined as "evaluate (something) by comparison with a standard." Therefore, you may benchmark your company against TCS for attrition rate or other project evaluation metrics, but you cannot benchmark for HR policies as such. Just think for a while. If TCS were to conduct the employee engagement survey, would HR from that company approach this forum, or would they handle it on their own?

The dynamics and organizational culture of TCS will be completely different from yours. Are you at par with TCS's recruitment standards, training standards, or any other standards? If not, then imitation may not work well.

Yes, conducting the employee engagement survey is important, but it need not be benchmarked against TCS per se. Secondly, in your post, you have also referred to "critical thinking." Do you want to promote a culture of critical thinking in your company? If yes, then you may do so, but it has nothing to do with employee engagement as such. For further discussion, feel free to contact me.

Thanks,

Thank you very much, Amit Sir and Dinesh Sir, for your valuable inputs. His company is a software company with 40+ employees, and my friend is very confused about which activities to implement on a daily basis. Management wants daily engagement activities that can enhance the company environment, and employees can also learn new skills through such activities. They are saying that to retain employees, it is necessary because only continuous work without any fruitful outcomes. If I am wrong anywhere, please correct me and suggest what to do.

We have no idea about critical thinking in depth. His management gave just an example that TCS and IT companies implemented such activities for employees for retention. Please, sir, give me some clarification about critical thinking activities.
