Performance appraisal system, as far as my knowledge goes, involves setting up unit goals and breaking them down into smaller, individual goals to achieve the unit goal at the beginning of the year. These goals are communicated to the appraisee with acknowledgment. The appraisee reviews their performance quarterly. At the year-end, the appraisee's performance is evaluated by the immediate boss, considering any opinions or challenges faced in achieving the set goals. Finally, the unit head provides endorsement or non-endorsement with differing views.
Career appraisal also considers any contributions or achievements beyond the set goals, depending on the availability of slots for career progression.
