Hi folks! I'm Piyali, a management student. My question is regarding the recruitment procedure. All I know about the steps of the recruitment process are delineated below:

1. Sourcing,
2. Screening,
3. Short-listing,
4. Interview,
5. Selection.

There is another term "validation." Is it a part of the recruitment process? When does this validation take place in the recruitment process?

Thanking You,

Regards,

Hi Piyali,

Validation is a step for measuring the effectiveness of a given approach. For example, a selection process is valid if it helps you increase the chances of hiring the right person for the job. Validation is itself a part and parcel as it is important because it validates the total recruitment process so that the right person is selected for the right place at the right time.

If you are asking in terms of "Employee Verification," yes, it is a part of the recruitment process where you verify the details of the employee from their previous employer.

Hope this clears your query.

Dear Piyali,

The steps you mentioned are for recruitment ONLY. However, the actual process starts much before when a business head raises the need for a new recruit. This is followed by outlining the job responsibilities and desired results from the vacancy, considering its impact on your budget compared to the outcome. The next step is to identify the desired skills, experience, salary, etc., in relation to the expected candidate. Publish the job posting and then proceed to receive applications.

Now, "validation" can occur at any stage of the processes mentioned. Please specify where you need it. Validation may take place at the initial stage of hiring a new employee, or regarding the desired experience, number of vacancies, or budgeted salary. If validation is required post-selection, it could involve verifying the candidate's documents, experience, family background, past salary details, criminal records, medical history, social activities, etc.

Thank you.
