Hi, this is Nireesh. I have completed my B.Tech in 2013, but until now, I haven't been able to secure a job. I have tried in my field and even attended BPO interviews, but with no success. I have been to almost 75+ interviews, and I am feeling quite discouraged.

In 2015, I joined a CCNA course, and I was selected by a private company as a network engineer. However, the issue arose when they only considered candidates with a degree, not a B.Tech. I had put B.Sc on my resume and got selected. When asked for documents, I provided a fake degree certificate, and when they requested the original documents, I had to admit the truth, leading to my termination. I am left confused by the situation.

What are the criteria for job selection - talent, documents, or qualifications? I have been attending interviews for the past two years with no luck, feeling helpless without guidance. As a B.Tech graduate, resorting to faking a degree out of desperation reflects my eagerness to secure a job. Despite proving my knowledge during the interview, my talent was overlooked due to the fake document, resulting in termination when I revealed the truth.

The lack of empathy from HR is disheartening. It seems they have forgotten the struggles of job hunting. The decision to accept or terminate lies in their hands. I appeal for compassion towards unemployed individuals like me.

Dear Nireesh,

To sum up your long post, I can say that after acquiring your B.Tech degree, you attended 75+ interviews and still did not get the job. For this, you acquired a fake B.Sc degree certificate, but since you could not produce the original, you were terminated. For this termination, you are holding HR responsible. You call them heartless.

Well, gentleman, the malaise of career decay lies in the lack of your employability. If you had been employable, you or your career would not be in limbo. A couple of failures are understandable; however, in both the IT and ITES industries combined, if you fail in 75+ interviews, then it can very well be deduced that some primal skills are missing in you. Therefore, what you need is serious self-examination. Find out where you are going wrong. Which skills do you need to upgrade? What about your oral communication? What about self-confidence?

You need to change your approach in appearing for the interviews. As many interviews as you have attended, did you make a note of the questions asked in the interviews? If not, why not? Your major problem could be the lack of these records.

Study hard, gentleman. Success in any field is possible with deep study. Why would companies select you if you have superficial knowledge?

Thanks,

Hi Nireesh,

Mr. Divekar has rightly pointed out that you need more self-examination.

From your post, a few things that can be understood are:

- There are some missing skills.
- Your command over English needs to be strengthened.
- Your self-confidence needs a real boost.

Having said that, you also need a plan of action to succeed.

So, for that, I recommend the following:

Read a lot of books, technical magazines, etc., in English. This will build your technical knowledge as well as give you a good command over English. Your grammar is very bad; you need to speak English as well. Practice in front of the mirror and then speak in English with siblings and friends. This will improve your English and boost your self-confidence, both of which are very essential.

Next time you are applying for a job, ask the recruiter to share the job description (JD) with you. It will outline the job roles and list out the set of skills they require. Check how much knowledge you have on those skills. Check online if there are any variations from what you studied. If there is an upgrade, study them or go to a coaching institute.

I hope this will help.

Also, note that you should not practice unethical or illegal tasks. If you get caught and are blacklisted or marked red, you will not be in a position to work at any place. Always remember that honesty is the best policy.
