To enter the details of an employee into the EPF Ereturn tool for an employee who has rejoined the firm after 8 months in a new financial year, you may be wondering whether to assign a new PF number or continue with the old number but update the date of joining.

According to the PF Act, you don't need to issue another number if you have already assigned a PF number to an employee. In your case, you can simply rejoin that employee with the same PF number for remitting the PF amount. However, if an employee withdraws their amount from the PF department, then a new number should be issued to the employee.

Dear Sanil Netalkar,

As far as my knowledge is concerned, once you have marked an employee as left in the ECR, you cannot continue with the same PF number. If the employee rejoins the company afterwards, you will have to assign them a new PF number. The only option for the employee is to transfer their old EPF money to the new PF number by filling out Form 13.

Seniors, please correct me if I am wrong.

Dear Friend,

Once an employee leaves the job, we cannot process or continue with the same ID as per the PF Organization. Kindly inform him to transfer the same PF amount to the new PF Account so he will be eligible for the benefits.

Good morning all seniors and juniors,

Yesterday, I shared this issue with the PF Department. They mentioned that if employees leave the job and rejoin after two or three months, it should be possible to retain their old PF number. Otherwise, you must issue a new PF number in the case of rejoining and transfer the amount through Form 13 to the new number.

I am attaching some useful information regarding PF that will help you.

If the employee has not got the PF settlement, you can add him as Left and rejoined.

Dear Sanil Netalkar,

Once you have shown the employee's name in Form 10, you can't make any remittances to a particular employee account. If an employee rejoins, you have to allot a new PF number and transfer the amount from the previous account to the new account using Form 13.

Hi,

If an employee left an organization and claimed his PF and pension fund, then we can't continue with his old number. We should give the present running number. If in case he doesn't opt for the claim, then we can continue with the old number, and at the time of claiming, we should confirm his break period in the forms.
