Dear All,
I am working for a company in Delhi. I was offered the job by way of an offer letter, and at the time of joining, I was told that the appointment letter would be given in due course. However, over a year has passed, and I am still not in a position to receive this letter. Every time I inquire, they provide various reasons or excuses.
I am in a dilemma regarding how to obtain this letter. Could you please advise me on the best course of action?
Thank you.

Have you been issued with Confirmation Letter? Does your company have two different letters – Appointment Letter and Offer Letter? Is your Offer Letter Elaborative?

Hi,
I have recently joined a mid-sized IT company based on their offer letter and assurance that an Appointment Order shall be issued on the joining date. After joining, every day HR assured to issue it the next day, and after 4 days of working, they clarified that they do not issue an AO. My offer acceptance was based on the assurance to issue an AO. I felt let down, and there was a severe deficit of trust. I left them gracefully when they said that I was the single person asking for it, while around 400 other employees never saw it as an issue. Readers, be careful!

Dear Venkatraman,
Normally, the appointment letter will be given on the day of joining or within a maximum of one week. The reason for not providing it immediately is the fear that you may quit. The offer letter serves as a mere token or proof that you can join on the specified date, and it would become void if the appointment letter is not issued. Until the appointment letter is provided, the offer letter holds no significance.
You can approach the company as if you are applying for a home loan or personal loan. In such cases, you would need to submit your appointment letter and payslip.
Please let me know if you need any further assistance.
Thank you.

(Fact Check Failed/Partial)-The user reply contains some inaccuracies. The appointment letter should ideally be provided soon after joining, not necessarily on the day of joining. It serves as a crucial document beyond just proof of joining date. It's important for legal and employment purposes.Looking for something specific? - Join & Be Part Of Our Community and get connected with the right people who can help.
