Hi,
I have the offer in hand which has a better pay (42% hike) than present salary. But the company I am working has very good Brand name.
I am really confused whether I have to stay back seeing the brand of the comany or take the hike and move on...
Seeing at the growth level in present company it would be slow. Reason being it is a big organization.
Note: I would complete one year by next month in present company...
Please suggest....

Join the new company , opportunity does not come always. The new company may be a brand after few years. You cant predict.

Hi,
It is simple Don,t go for Brand name or even Money/ compensation or hike watever you call. see where you learn new things where you to can explore and where you can grow. This is imp rest all will follow you. If you gain knowledge then it may happen that both Brand and money may knock ur door at once being as one.
All the best

Though you seem to have made up your mind I have the following point for you to ponder:
- What stage of your career are you in? If you are in the early stages the value a "branded" organization can add to your profile is substantial. Though your growth prospects are limited, if your organization can give you the opportunity for learn and add value to yourself this benefit will go a long way in future;
- Smaller organizations give higher salaries because of the risk a candidate is taking to join them. Though learning prospects may be good it will be purely upto the individual to balance the job vs learning.
I suggest that you look at:
- the job security in the prospective new employer;
- new job function;
- culture in the current and prospective employer organizations.
Though money is important it is not everything.
Good luck and best wishes.
Sankar.

My honest suggestion to you would be to go for the Salary Hike rather than Brand. You would get extra income as well as better learning curve. Brand wouldnt give you anything moreso during recession the branded company retrenched more employees than the non branded co's. Dont think go ahead grab the offer....

There should not be second thought ..... Just affirm the offer ..... Rather, you should not delay even. Best of luck.

Hi,
M sure you have made up your mind by now. But just for ur information, when your in the beginning stage of your career, brand name matters a lot. It is avalue addition to your CV when you go hunting for another job.
Don't keep jumping jobs. No recruiter would take that in a positive sense. They would think u've got stability issues.
Anyway, Good luck with which ever job u have taken up
