(Fact Check Failed/Partial)-The user reply contains inaccuracies. The preparation of Professional Tax reports and Sales Tax forms should be based on specific state regulations, not generic terms like "Form 100." It's crucial to refer to the exact forms and guidelines provided by the Karnataka state government.

  • Professional Tax is the domain of state governments/UT in India. States are free to determine their own rates of taxes by grouping various professions.

Specifically, in respect of Employees, the concerned Employer shall recover the PT from the salary/wages of their employees at the time of disbursement of salary, every month, and remit the recovered amount to the prescribed Account of the respective state government. They should file a Monthly Return furnishing the details of remittance in the prescribed Form either online or in physical form. After the closure of the financial year, they should also file an Annual Return in Form-5 either online or in physical form, furnishing the same particulars and also remit residual PT computed as payable at the end of the financial year, which details shall also be indicated in the Annual Return, on or before the due date as per the Act.

For example, in Karnataka, the due date for filing the Annual Return in Form-5 is 31st May, i.e., 90 days from 31st March.
